Gaylord Texan in Dallas

After Christmas, we all headed up to Dallas to be close to Nani Olson and Aunt Carol. We stayed at the Gaylord Texan for 3 nights and had a very nice time, even though I was sick with a bad fever, etc. Addie loved the red flowers. Aunt Lauren, Addie and Connor walking around enjoying the atrium. Jackson dancing with Addie to the marimbe band at dinner.

Addie at the Children's Museum.
Her cousins loved to ask her "Addie, how old are you?"

Christmas

The Saturday before Christmas, Connor had his 5th Birthday Party with a "dress up as your favorite character" theme. Ireland and Addie were ballerinas.
Addie giving Daddy a kiss under the mistletoe. She loves to give kisses and hugs. Nathan and Connor dressed up as an alligator and a cow - Addie thought it was the funniest thing she had ever seen! We went out Christmas Eve to Pappadeaux for some great Greek Salads and seafood. This was the first time that Addie made an attempt to eat with utensils. Christmas Day, discovering how fun the toilet paper roll is.

Nathan and Connor wanted to give Addie a nutcracker after going to see the ballet in early December. And Addie has on the scarf that Gramma Ireland made for her (and a matching one for Ireland, too!)

She liked sitting in the little rocking chair all by herself. That's my next gift idea for her - let me know if you see a good one!

Adelaide is One!

We drove to Texas for the Christmas/New Years break on December 20th so Addie wouldn't have to be in the carseat for 9 hours on her birthday. So we got to celebrate her first birthday in Texas with the Irelands, Cavetts, and Oliphants!
Adelaide's birthday breakfast - Gramma Ireland had the whole dining room decorated, including 3 helium balloons that Addie really enjoyed. Gramma also spoiled her by letting her have syrup on her waffles - a first. And she got "Birthday Princess" pajamas from Gramma, too! She LOVED the orange juice - guzzled the whole cup down! We went to a new mexican restaurant for dinner. Tex-Mex just tastes better in Texas! She loved the ice cream treat at the restaurant. Adelaide got some fun new toys for her birthday - her cousin Jackson enjoyed them, too.
Then we had cupcakes and Blue Bell ice cream - sugar her up right before bed!

"Addie, how old are you?" ONE!

One Year Old!!!

Adelaide is now one year old!! The year has flown by, but it seems forever ago when she was a little baby. We're in Texas, so she got to celebrate her first birthday with Irelands. When you ask her, "Addie, how old are you?" she'll hold up a little finger for "1". I didn't think she'd be able to catch on to that just yet, but she has! Sometimes she gets confused with her tricks and shows us her tongue instead. (We've been working on "Addie, where is your tongue?"). And sometimes she just wants the praise she knows is coming and will bypass the trick and just start clapping!
Adelaide's not walking, but is a fast crawler and loves to climb. She tried eating my sister's salad with a spoon last night! I guess we need to start letting her feed herself with utensils. She LOVES her sippy-cup, especially when there's juice in it. Addie loves wrestling with her Daddy or a big stuffed animal. She loves opening and closing books, especially ones with "lift-the-flaps". She also likes to make music by banging toys together, playing on her new piano/xylophone, or pulling up to play on the big piano. She gives great hugs and kisses, too. Addie loves to laugh, especially when her cousins are playing with her. They dressed up like a cow and horse, and she thought it was hilarious! She initiates play with people by chuckling. It's funny to watch her try to get people's attention while we're out. Addie loves animals, especially dogs, ducks and cats. She likes to go "bye bye," and will get all excited and start kicking her legs and waiving when we're going out the door. She seems to be very social and playful, but maybe what baby isn't?

December Pictures

After Addie's party, we put all the balloons in her crib with her. She didn't know what to do at first, but then had fun hunting for her teddy bear.
She discovered the Gerber baby.
Coco and Addie's inaugural ride in the new wagon. It's so cute when she gets on her tippy toes to reach the piano keys!

First Birthday Party!

We had Adelaide's first birthday party today. Her birthday isn't until the 21st, but we'll be in Texas then, and wanted to celebrate here in Montgomery. All ready the night before. The three of us. Adelaide enjoyed the decorations
Addie in her party dress.

Playing with cousins Isabelle and Preston.

The cake - can't believe she's 1!

Ready and waiting for her cake.Adelaide's very own smash cake, made with no sugar.

Time to open presents!

We gave her a red wagon. She liked going for a ride around the house (since it was a rainy day outside).

"Thanks for coming to my birthday party!"

December Pics

Adelaide loves to play the piano.
My childhood friend Jennifer (Eastwood) Clegg and her husband Travis and little girl Madison were in Montgomery for 6 weeks for Travis' training at the Air Force Base! Jennifer and I had a great time catching up while the girls played.
Maddie and Addie playing together. Addie's really into biting toys or stuffed animals (the teddy bear was the victim here) and crawling around with them. It's pretty funny!
Addie really cuddly with our neighbor Mrs. Tesla.
Swinging in the front yard on a cold day.
