I started on the blog right away, not knowing how long the internet access would last. Addie woke, b-fast (she had a load in the washer to entertain her; she imitates the many sounds of the washer and gets a concerned look when it starts spinning, with reason, since it sounds like it’s about to take off!), and she was very content to play with the blocks that Laura lent us (also lent a ball – great for the garden while I’m hanging up laundry) while I uploaded pictures. I could play with her while they were uploading, so it worked perfectly. During her morning nap I uploaded and showered for the day. I wanted to try to make it to Christ’s Pieces again to meet the Finish girls, but she slept too long, again! I’m really glad she’s getting the sleep she seems to need, esp. b/c she really only is getting 1 nap a day. After lunch we headed out; decided to walk all the way down to Lammas Land, a bigger playground south of the center. We went a new route; took “the Backs” behind the colleges across the river. Tried to get some good pictures there.
King's College Chapel from "The Backs", across the Cam River.
Finally got down to Lammas Land, and when she saw all the kids, she was SO excited! I let her out to walk but she RAN. Her little run is so cute! She would point to what she wanted to go play on. She really wanted to get on the big swing contraption with the bigger girls, but it was obviously NOT for toddlers. I had to catch her a few times from running straight through a mud puddle, which she did not like being stopped. We had a good time though; headed back on a new route...
This is by "The Mills" - a sign from 1857!
So this is the actual site of the White Horse Inn, by King's College - where students debated Luther's works; a birthplace of the Reformation in England.
...and met David at the church at 5. Passed some students who were spraying champagne – must have just finished exams for this term. We walked to Jesus’ Piece (park) because I had seen an advertisement for a band concert – didn’t know if that was rock or a band, but thought we’d check it out. By then, though, it had gotten quite cold (weather is so crazy!) and we saw no band setting up, so went on home. Beans and rice for dinner (our staple meal!), bath for Addie, read and did computer stuff, like finances. Fun! It actually is for me, sad to say!
