My Dad’s birthday today! David didn’t go into work at 9 because Ranald was coming at 10. I had to wake Addie up by 8:15 so she’d go back to bed when he came; it worked perfectly, amazingly enough! We had a good talk with him, for about 2 hours! He’s very easy to talk with and asks good questions, and doesn’t let you go off on rabbit-trails for too long. We’re planning to meet every week, so this week was more introductory – him getting to know us, us getting to know a little about what brought him to this point in life. He recommended some books: Quiknotes of Christian History and True Spirituality, by his father-in-law of course. David got up to work to relieve Martin for a break, and after lunch with Addie, we headed out to the RC to say hi...

...stop by Clark’s for protector, the market for produce, and the store on our way back home. Home about 3:30 and went over to Laura’s about 4:15. Her boys Whitfield (3.5) and Hudson (2.5) were very energized to have friends over, and Addie didn’t quite know what to think of them at first. But she warmed up, especially after seeing a ball to play with and the same Farm Yard fridge toy that she has. Laura and I had a great visit, talking about this or that in Cambridge and what brought each of us over here. We stayed ‘til about 6! Salad and soup for dinner; poor Addie was so tired she barely lasted through it! We sat out on the patio going through English history and talked with our neighbor Linda and then her daughter Beatrice for nearly an hour! Linda’s husband in Ian, if I haven’t mentioned that already. Beatrice is 15, and she and David talked about bands. She’s in love with the TV show “Friends” which cracked us up. Anyway, very good and helpful (about trash/”rubbish” and washing machine) talking with them. The soup and salad didn’t cut it for David, so by about 9 he went to try to find some fish and chips. I got internet access so was trying to put up pictures on the blog – yeah! He came back saying he was going out with the Lutherans, and brought over one of their wives, Adrienne. She and I talked for a while; they’ve been here 10 mo., and about to go back home in 2 weeks. Then I tried to do a little more on the internet before bed.
